New Images and Library Articles

The Group has been fortunate to receive four collections of new images for our galleries.

Mr Ala MacGruer has lent us a collection of photographs, including many local shinty teams, going back in time to about 1909. One of the best pictures is a 1912 photograph of the Foyers Pipe Band. We also have a copy of The BA News from 1954 with articles on the factory at Foyers.

Rosemary MacGregor has lent us a collection of family photographs. Also included amongst her papers is a copy of the disposition made in 1929 by which Dorothy Brook donated land to Boleskine Parish Council to extend the Boleskine Burial Ground. Mentioned in this disposition is one Aleister Saint Edward Crowley as Trustee for the Mysteria Mystica Maxima or British Section of the Ancient Order of Oriental Templars!

Roger Creegan has given us a collection of postcards from the 1920s - 1950s showing such scenes as the Foyers shop, the Foyers School and the Wade bridge at Inverfarigaig.

Finally, Maureen Brown, Head Teacher has lent us a collection of school photographs from the 1920s to the 1950s.

We will be putting these pictures in the galleries over the next few weeks.

We were also pleased to receive from Maureen Brown the loan of documents from which three new library articles were created. Foyers School # 1 and # 2 and Parish of Boleskine give a fascinating insight into life in South Loch Ness in the first half of the 1900s.
